Hi, I'm Joe. I spent nearly 5 years as an Assistant Director and Senior Assistant Director of Admission at Carnegie Mellon, reading thousands of applications to one of the most selective Computer Science and Engineering programs in the country. I currently advise families through Empowerly, where I've worked with almost 40 students over the past 3 years.

For the past two years, I've focused my research on one question: what actually makes a student stand out — and why most admissions advice gets it backwards. My findings draw from psychology, behavioral science, and philosophy. The goal isn't more noise. It's what actually matters.

I Help You Change Everything with 3 Core Reframes...
What Workshops Looks Like...

Perspective.

Stop reacting to everything. See what matters, what doesn't, and what you can ignore.

Goal-Setting.

Stop chasing "standing out." Instead, define the destination that makes standing out inevitable.

Self-Assessment.

Stop optimizing the resume. First, identify what's actually missing — at the identity level, where it counts.

Small Groups, Not a Webinar.

You're grouped with families at a similar stage, not lumped into a generic audience. The conversation stays specific to where your family is.

Tailored Before You Arrive.

Your intake form shapes the session, and the conversation closes with real-time questions specific to your situation — not a fixed script or a recording you watch alone.

Meet Families Like Yours.

Isolation is where admissions anxiety grows. A small group means you'll confirm that you're not the only one feeling what you feel.

Two Ways You're Protected...

If your family isn't the right fit, I'll tell you during intake and refund your deposit.

If you complete the workshop and don't feel it delivered value, I'll refund you in full.

No questions asked.

How it Works...

Pay Your Deposit.

A $150 refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. It's refundable until you register for a workshop. When that happens, the deposit is applied to the full cost of the session.

Complete the Intake Form.

Shortly after your deposit, you'll get a brief intake form. I use it to make sure this workshop is right for your family's situation — and if it isn't, I'll refund your deposit in full, no hard feelings.

Complete a Scheduling Survey.

Lastly, you'll receive a survey to share your input on workshop dates. After completing the survey, you'll wait to hear from me.
